by Kwanele Mathebula
Mmabatho Montsho

Mmabatho Montsho has transitioned from being in front of the camera to behind-the-scenes and now, into the world of art. The star held her first solo exhibition, Manyano at Constitution Hill over the weekend. In an interview with eNCA, she explained that the exhibition was focused on the history of the women of the Methodist Church.

Here’s a look at what she had to say.

Here’s a look inside her exhibition.

This picture makes me cry. This old lady goes to church with my mom. She told us last night that she was arrested at Con Hill during apartheid times. Last night, women like her were being honored at a place that tried to take their dignity away. None of us could have planned this, we can only say thank you to the powers that be. Camagu. ♥️ #manyanoexhibition Ph. @bongani_mndaweni

I saw @montshotheblack work first hand. It took me back to Omama besambatho from where I grew up. Her talent is amazing. The detail is beautiful and symbolism complete… Thank you for sharing your talent with us… #ManyanoExhibition #Women #Wesile #Methodist

Passed by Conhill to check out @montshotheblack ‘s solo exhibition titled ” #Manyano “, inspired by the Womem of Manyano Methodist Church. Such an amazing body of work. This is my favorite piece in particular, titled ” Mmele, pelo le moya” Oil on canvass.
