
It’s commonly believed that every race’s most challenging section is just before the finish line. “End-of-year fatigue is tiredness that shows up around the end of the year.
Speaking to Sowetan Live, counseling psychologist Dr. Kgomotso Masokoane, said it is a direct outcome of being overworked and stressed out.
Physical, mental, and psychological exhaustion are the causes of burnout, which is typically accompanied by feelings of hopelessness, lack of motivation, and despair in all facets of life. Although there are several signs of being burned out, tiredness is the most typical one.
With just 30 days left before the year ends, the rush to wrap up deadlines increases in order to take a well deserved break, not only is this exhausting but also bad for your health.
Here are a few tips to help you manage the feelings that come with fatigue:
1. Get rid of guilt
Say “no” more frequently and decline plans. You no longer have the emotional capacity to help anyone; stop doing so. This is not you being selfish, but you being ware of yourself. It’s not just your body that needs a rest when you’re exhausted.
Forcing yourself to go out or give an extra hour of yourself, might do you more harm than good.
2. Get into your feelings
If you find yourself emotional and highly irritable for no reason, its the fatigue. Instead of suppressing your feelings it is always best to let loose and allow yourself to feel and express your feelings fully.
Others are more likely to be understanding and empathetic towards you when they know what you are going through. Check in with yourself throughout the day and stay in touch with your emotional.
3. Get Moving
Healthy psychological functioning requires the ability to control one’s emotions. Staying still may seem like the best course of action when you’re tired, but it’s not. The secret to escaping the doldrums is to move your body. It’s not necessary to go overboard; a stroll in your neighborhood will do, simply move.
If you feel you’re suffering consistent fatigue, which is an overwhelming tiredness that isn’t relieved by rest and sleep, you may have a medical condition and it would be best you visit a professional.
