Little girl for setting boundaries and speaking up for herself

by Johana Mukandila

A little girl got annoyed with a stranger who randomly touched her chin, making Mzansi proud in the process.

This little fighter was reportedly with her family got annoyed when a stranger touched her chin without her consent.

The little girl’s reaction left Mzansi in a media feeding frenzy after it being posted on Tik-Tok, where she found some new fans, with many prising her for being conscious about consent and vocalising it as young as she is which is extremely important for kids, as for most parents, that combination of easy confidence and clear boundaries is what parents dream for their daughters and sons. And this little girl had just that as her reaction in the clip shows just how astounded she is by the stranger touching her chin. The response shows that she has an early understanding of what consent is, which many peeps from South Africa saw and applauded.

According to The Guardian,”Teaching consent is an important part of educating a child on sexual health. It is, definitely, not an easy venture to talk about sex with kids. But, children should be taught from the earliest age. They should know and understand that their voices matter and they do have choices.”

The topic of consent has repeatedly appeared in the media with many women advocating for more bodily autonomy.

Although many prised her for exercising her own boundaries, many also pointed out that the little girl, was just too smart for her age.
