If you’ve been planning a trip to Ghana, you will be happy to know that you don’t need a visa that you would have had to apply for online, or upon arrival at Kokota International airport.

Recently announced the by both the South African High Commission and the Ghana High Commission, the agreement between the two countries will allow individuals to stay in each other’s country visa-free for up to a total of 90 days a year. If an individual would like to extend their stay after the 90 days, they are to apply for a visa for the added time.

Issuing a statement of the agreement entered into by both countries on October 13th, each country’s High Commissions shared:

“The High Commission of The Republic of South Africa has the honour to inform the Republic of Ghana that both Governments agreed to implement the waiver for visa exemption for ordinary passport holders for a cumulative period of ninety (90) days per annum, with effect from 01 November 2023. Should the ninety (90) days be exhausted within the twelve months period, ordinary passport holders are required to apply for a visa to enter the Republic of South Africa.”

Statement: X

Social media users welcomed the news, commenting:
