Mother-in-law disgusted that daughter-in-law free-bleeds in her house

While having a menstrual cycling is normal, the methods in which women choose to bleed can raise eyebrows. This was the case when a woman decided to free-bleed at her mother-in-law’s house.

Simply put, the health publication Healthline explains that free bleeding – a method that has been around for centuries – is when tampons, pads, or other menstrual products to absorb or collect the flow of blood are not used.

Sharing her story on the social media app Reddit, the woman explained that she was staying at her mother-in-law’s house with her husband for a family get-together.

“I have horrifically painful periods and bad mobility. I cannot use cups and I am allergic to all brands of pad I’ve used. I do have cloth pads but I only brought a couple small ones for my trip as I wasn’t due until days after we got home, but we were on day four of our trip and I started my period on our first night,” she said.

Since the start of her period during the trip, the Reddit user shared that although she brought her own towels which she used to sit and sleep on, she bled through twice and cleaned the mess. No stains were visible, however, the mother-in-law was not impressed.

“She’s disgusted by my lack of decorum and carrying my bloody towel around everywhere. She also hates that I’m washing them in her machines and is now saying we need to pay to have them professionally cleaned (which we will do),” noted the woman.

Having had enough, the mother-in-law, who said the woman was “behaving like an animal,” made it clear that she wanted her daughter-in-law to leave the house while her son stays.

Says the woman, “My husband is on damage control but I just feel so sh*tty. Am I in the wrong here? I understand that it’s not super sanitary but my health matters more than some bed sheets. I’ll replace them if she wants.”
