Your budget being too tight should not be the reason you and your significant other do not go on a date this weekend.  If you have a limited budget, you can experience the most of the city with your partner without spending a fortune. There are loads of cost-effective date ideas that one can explore:

Watch the sunset at the beach

Cape Town is known for its beautiful beaches, there are many that one can visit, so the one closest to where you live can be the best option. You and your significant other can experience sundowners, having a drink while watching the sun go down. However, alcohol consumption is illegal on most beaches in the city so it would be best to bring along non-alcoholic beverages to avoid any complications.

Hiking

Hiking does not necessarily mean conquering Table Mountain there are less tougher hiking spots that you can take, like the hiking routes in Constantia. These scenic walks can be a great way to catch up on what has happened during the week and a nice way to bond.

Head to a wine farm

Most estates in Cape Town, and the surrounding towns of Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, offer cost-effective tastings of their best wines, in remarkably date-worthy locations. Each estate handles tasting in their own manner, so a bit of planning ahead might be helpful. Some offer free unlimited tastings, but most require a payment of about R40 to sample a selection.

Enjoy some ice cream

Though this may be cliché, sharing ice cream makes a great cost-effective date idea. A walk at the Sea Point pavilion while enjoying ice cream can be a great way to spend time with your partner while enjoying the sea breeze.

Stroll around a food market

There are several great markets located throughout the city, including the Bay Harbour Market, Mojo Market, Oranjezicht City Farm Market, the classic Old Biscuit Mill and the Sunday Market in Muizenberg. All these markets offer vibrant atmospheres and enough diversity in their delicious food offerings to add a positive element to any cost effective date.

Picnic at a garden

If you are not lucky enough to have a garden where you stay then Cape Town has a few botanical gardens that you can visit to have a picnic. The classic being the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, though there is an entrance fee per person. You can pack a picnic basket and walk around the peaceful garden.
