Shopping spree at Builders

by Bridgette Matjuda

Our Features Writer Fundiswa Nkwanayana tells us how she finally got her DIY projects started by shopping at Builders.

After finding some amazing ideas on Pinterest, translating them into action was intimidating. This was mainly because I find hardware stores daunting. That is until I discovered Builders. I was so chuffed that they had everything I needed to get my ventures going.

Online shopping escapades
I find researching for DIY projects online and also searching for products to use at the same time easier as I can compare everything simultaneously. Once I landed on www.builders.co.za, it was easy to manoeuvre through the various categories. I found what I needed easily by filtering the search to show cheapest items first. However, it gets complex when the item you want is not available at the store you have selected. You then have to select another store. Once you get the hang of switching stores, the online shopping experience moves swiftly along. I absolutely loved the price drop and daily deals tab because I could easily see if the items on my wish list had been reduced.

In-store shopping escapades
There are various stores under the Builders umbrella: Builders Superstore, Builders Warehouse, Builders Trade Depot and Builders Express. I prefer the Express stores because they are convenient for basic DIY items. They also have sales assistants that welcome customers on arrival and guide them through the store. Each department has a designated sales assistant who provides in-depth information and advice on different products. My favourite part in-store as walking through the nursery – I felt like I was in a beautiful garden.
