Why time-resisted eating may not result to weight loss

by Unathi Balele

Though some research may show that time-restricted eating may lead to weight loss, improve heart health and lower blood sugar. Some studies may beg to differ from the notion that time-restricted eating may lead to weight loss.

According to Healthline, Time-restricted eating, or time-restricted feeding as some may call it, refers to when eating is limited to a certain number of hours each day.

For example, time-restricted eating is if you choose to eat all your food for the day in an 8-hour period, such as from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.The remaining 16 hours each day are the fasting period, during which no calories are consumed. And one has to follow this eating schedule each day.

According to Women’s Health, here’s 5 reasons why time-resisted eating may not result to weight loss

You’re eating too much during your eating window

If you just pack all of the calories you’d normally eat into your eating window, you’re not really changing your diet at all. According to research, if you end up consuming the same number of calories (or more) during your eating windows as before you started time resisted eating, then you won’t lose weight.

You’re eating less-nutritious foods

Your diet needs to remain healthy or balanced. If you gravitate towards fast foods during your eating windows then you will not lose.

You’re not fasting long enough

Everything takes time, you have to allow your body to adjust to the new eating schedule. Be patient if you want to see weight loss results.

You’re skipping meals during your eating window

It’s important to stick to consistent eating times, eat at the same time everyday. According to research, skipping meals and not eating enough during your eating windows can cause you to be extremely hungry during fasting periods, making it more likely that you’ll end up breaking your fasts.

You aren’t sleeping enough

There have been a few studies conducted that have looked at the direct correlation with weight loss and sleep while following a time restricted eating plan, several studies have shown a connection between adequate sleep and positive weight loss outcomes.
