Follow these after-sex rules to keep your vagina healthy

Sex is great and all, but what is not great are urinary tract infections (UTIs) and vaginal irritation.

It is important to take care of your vagina, just like you would take care of any other part of your body. Your yoni is powerful and should be loved, cared for and protected at all times.

Women’s Health mentions 4 things you should do to keep your coochie happy after sex.

Pee after sex: If you suffer from regular UTIs, it is best to head on down to the bathroom. Bacteria from your rectum can get close to your urethra and cause an infection. Urinating when you are done washes out the bacteria at the end of your urethra.

Wipe the area: Lube and bacteria from things that have come in contact with your vagina increase your chance of developing a bacterial or yeast infection.

To avoid this, take a warm washcloth and gently dab using non-fragrant soap and water (or just warm water), moving from front to back. I repeat: front to back.

Cotton undies or none at all: You can either choose to wear cotton underwear and loose-fitted pyjamas to keep your vag dry, or wear none at all for better air circulation to avoid UTIs.

However, when it comes to your undies, try to avoid nylon panties and tight-fitting pyjamas. These items of clothing trap moisture and help bacteria grow.

Drink water: Dehydration affects your vagina too. Sip on that water to stay hydrated and to help flush out UTI-causing bacteria.
