4 ways to keep your fitness going this winter

Finding the motivation to work out when it’s cold outside can be a challenge, but it’s super important if you want to keep up with long-term fitness goals. We’ve all heard it before, ‘summer bodies are made in winter’. And, while aesthetics should never be the main goal of your fitness journey, the sentiment remains. If you want to stay fit, you need to be consistent year-round. That means dragging yourself away from your cosy spot and getting active. Because it’s easier said than done, we’ve come up with four tips to keep those motivation levels up this season.

Herbalife Nutrition suggests four ways to stay on top of your fitness game this winter .

Plan ahead

Whether you’re exercising in the morning or in the afternoon, pre-planning will go a long way. Set your clothes out the day before, so all you have to do is throw them on and head out the door. While it may seem slightly outrageous, some fitness influencers suggest sleeping in your workout kit if you have an early workout to get to. A bonus? You’ll get an extra five minutes of snooze time! Basically, if you can eliminate as many steps as possible by getting them done the day before, you’ll be more likely to get yourself out the door.

Sign up for a class

Workout classes are great for keeping your motivation levels up. You don’t have to worry about coming up with ideas, you can diarise a set workout time, you can make new friends, plus it’s usually a blast. You don’t even need to go to the gym for this – there are countless online workout classes to do from the comfort of your home. From dancing, to yoga, to trail running, choose a workout you’ll love. This will make it feel less like something you have to do and more like something you want to do.

Workout with a buddy

If you struggle to hold yourself accountable, why not try working out with a buddy? You’ll be less likely to ditch a workout when you know someone is counting on you to show up. Aside from this, it’ll make working out less lonely. You could even try taking turns planning your workouts and include some incentives to keep you going. It’s also a great way to add some social time to your busy schedule, while simultaneously crushing your fitness goals.

Invest in new gym gear

Finally, who doesn’t love showing off a new kit? Upgrading your workout look is an easy motivation boost. Whether it’s investing in new kicks, or finally buying that funky top you’ve had your eye on forever, you deserve to treat yourself. It doesn’t have to stop at clothes, either. Maybe switch up your protein powder and pre-workout flavour. They say change is as good as a holiday. Maybe all you need to get you moving again is a little switch up.

Don’t let the winter blues stop you from crushing those fitness goals. Get moving this winter!
