Vinegar is a versatile and inexpensive ingredient that has been used for centuries in cooking and food preparation.

According to Delish, vinegar is the result of the fermentation of sugars to ethanol, which is alcohol, and ethanol to acetic acid. The alcohol-free end product can be made out of several different ingredients, which is why there is a wide variety of vinegars available at the supermarket. Wine was the first ingredient used to produce vinegar, which comes from the Old French word vinaigre, meaning sour wine.

Whether you want to add a twist of taste to delicacies or add a punch of tanginess to the condiments to cleaning the kitchen stove or to clean appliances in the kitchen or get rid of stubborn grease on utensils, a spoonful of white vinegar can be a game changer.

Here are some incredible uses of vinegar in the kitchen:

  1. Salad Dressing: Vinegar makes an excellent base for salad dressings. Mix it with olive oil, honey, mustard, and herbs for a delicious dressing.
  2. Pickling: Vinegar is an essential ingredient in pickling. It helps preserve the vegetables and gives them a tangy flavor. Use vinegar to pickle cucumbers, onions, beets, and more.
  3. Marinade: Vinegar makes an excellent marinade for meat. The acidity helps break down the tough fibers in the meat, making it tender and flavorful. Mix vinegar with oil, garlic, and herbs for a tasty marinade.
  4. Cleaning: Vinegar is an excellent natural cleaner. Mix it with water and use it to clean countertops, floors, and appliances.
