How to achieve smooth skin

Having smooth skin is an indicator of good skin health. However, achieving and maintaining smooth and healthy skin can be a challenge. Avoid neglecting your skin health and achieve smooth skin by following a few simple tips.

Online education subscription platform MasterClass notes that the buildup of dead skin cells on the skin’s surface is the primary cause of uneven skin texture. “Dead skin cells accumulate and can cause rough skin that is dry or bumpy to the touch. Other reasons include acne, chronic sun exposure, and skin conditions such as psoriasis, ichthyosis, keratosis pilaris, and eczema.”

Below are some of the tips to achieve smooth skin by MasterClass.

Wash your face daily

To remove impurities from the skin’s surface, use a gentle, foaming face cleanser at least once a day. Be careful not to use harsh soaps or excessively hot water as it can strip your skin of its natural oils.

Drink water

One of the easiest ways to avoid dry skin and achieve a healthy glow is by staying hydrated. Water hydrates all of the body’s organs, including the largest one – the skin.

Apply sunscreen every day

Sunburn and blemishes, such as dark spots, are caused by an extended exposure to the sun’s UV rays. Avoid this by wearing sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher which helps protect the outer layer of your skin.

Moisturise and exfoliate

By moisturising your skin, you help balance your body’s sebum protection (the gland responsible for producing natural body oils). Additionally, a face scrub will help to remove any dead skin cells and built-up residue that may clog your pores and make your skin look and feel uneven.

Consider a dermatological procedure

Speak to a trusted dermatologist about undergoing the following dermatological procedures to achieve the appearance of smoother skin: Fractional resurfacing, microneedling, and dilute injectables.
