Continuing to share her journey with cancer with social media, Zoleka Mandela excitedly announced that after spending eight nights in the hospital, she has finally been discharged.

On 16 May, Zoleka shared that she was admitted to the hospital to receive radiation to her spine together with her pelvis. She also awaited chemotherapy for the progression of cancer in her body.

She had also mentioned in a previous post that she has cancer in her bones, lungs, liver and her entire brain.

On Tuesday, 23 May, she shared the exciting news. She captioned her post, “Good morning, beloved hearts!!! ? GUESS WHO WAS DISCHARGED FROM HOSPITAL YESTERDAY??? ? I can’t believe I was admitted for eight nights and now, finally sleeping in my own bed!!! ??.”

She then thanked the team of doctors who assisted her along the way. “So thankful for the dedication, the outstanding efforts and selfless contributions of the entire Oncology Department, together with the Occupational Therapy team, Palliative Care Department, Physio team, and an incredibly dynamic team of Doctors.❤️ I’M HOME, I’M HOME, I’M HOME!!! ?.”

In a separate post, the author showed a picture of a needle she would need to use for the next seven days. “I have to inject Neupogen to help my body make more white blood cells, which are crucial to helping fight off infections, as chemotherapy and radiation typically reduce the cell count,” she wrote.

Zoleka added that since receiving chemotherapy, she is feeling “much better.” She said, “Pain-free, active and [I] was able to make my own dinner and incorporate all the daily exercises and stretches the physio and OT departments taught me to do!!! ??.”
