Activist and Author Zoleka Mandela has started her cancer treatment, this follows her announcing it’s return last month on Instagram.

Updating her followers on Instagram she said ‘I wanted to thank you all, profusely for all your prayers and well wishes, for your generosity and kind deeds! I’m home and recovering from the side effects of my first session, to treat the cancer in my lungs, liver, ribs, spinal cord and hips. I’m battling to come to terms with my diagnosis, it’s both daunting and terrifying. Prayer for acceptance and peace that passes all understanding. Peace. Passion. Positivity.’

The When hope Whisper’s author shared the news of her diagnosis  on the 29th of August confirming her worst nightmare.‘Yesterday marked my official diagnosis, the CT scan has revealed cancer both in my liver and lungs.’ she wrote

She continued to say that she was still awaiting results from her bone scan to determine if she has bone cancer. ‘I am yet to receive feedback regarding my Bone scan, to establish whether I have cancer beyond my ribs. I am hanging on by a thread.’

Zoleka Mandela expressed her greatest fear of dying and leaving her kids. ‘ I don’t even have the words to articulate my thoughts and feelings, the words to describe how scared I am right now. What do I tell my children? How do I tell them that this time around, I may not get to live my life as a survivor? How do I tell them everything will be okay when it’s not? I’m dying … I don’t want to die.’
