Musician, actor, and television presenter Bonginkosi Dlamini better known as Zola 7, has been selected by sports, arts and culture minister Zizi Kodwa as the “creative sector ambassador.”

“Bonginkosi Dlamini is South Africa’s icon, and one of our most talented stars. I met him yesterday in Polokwane – he welcomed an invite to work with us as one of the Creative Sector Ambassadors. I look forward to a great working relationship with Zola 7,” the minister tweeted.

The minister said the following while speaking to TshisaLIVE on the role that Zola 7 has undertaken as the creative sector ambassador:

“Zola 7 is one of the undisputed icons from the creative industry, particularly in music. Part of what I expect of him is to give himself time to be with me and work with me around issues of the creative industry to see how best we can take our music industry to another level from where he started.”

“He remains an inspiration to many, that opportunity, as a department, to work with him presents a rare opportunity. I’m quite excited that I found a person who I’ve known for many years because of his craft,” he added.

Many of the musician’s fans were excited for the news as they took to Twitter to voice their excitement.

Finally a Minister who appreciate the work our artists have put in in entertaining us and putting RSA flag up high. I’m happy for Zola 7.
