Whether she is sharing a hilarious joke, addressing a pressing issue or bringing forward informative information, media personality and singer Unathi Nkayi has a way of making us watch and engage with her social media shared videos.

Recently holding her short therapy Tuesday video session on her Instagram, Unathi touched on a very sensitive but relevant issue. An issue of sexual abuse of boy kids by home helps or family members. In the video she shared:

“Amongst the men in my life, whether is friends, cousins, colleagues, uncles there’s an alarming number of men who have basically confided in us sharing that some of them lost their virginities to their nannies, or they had been sexually assaulted by their nannies or have been sexually groomed by their nannies. Some have even mentioned drivers and gardeners, being sexually assaulted by people who have been paid by the family to help run their businesses or estates or help raise the kids. ”

Unathi also highlighted the need for men to hold conversations around sexual abuse, adding that she was in plans to co-host a seminar around such issues with a friend.

“Sad thing is when ur parents speak so highly of a former nanny not knowing what they did to you. Back in the day who would u even tell?‍♂️.”

A mother who could relate due to her son’s sexual abuse by his nanny shared:

“????????my son was sexualy abused by his nanny and at the age of between 5 and 6 years. She was arrested and sentenced to 10years.”
