Rising South African Amapiano singer and songwriter Tyla Seethal has made her mark with a new VEVO DSCVR feature.

VEVO DSCVR is a feature that shines light on musicians from around the world that have achieved popular success. The feature is separated into two videos: an artist introduction video and a performance video.

In her introductory interview Tyla introduces herself and talks about her musical influences and inspirations.

“I’m inspired by all the genre’s I listened to growing up, not being tied down to one thing. But also coming from South Africa you know Amapiano is the sound right now, and that has a huge influence on me”, the budding Amapiano artist shared.

She also expressed fondness for international artists like Rihanna and Aaliyah.

“Two artists that inspire my music is Aaliyah and Rihanna. How do you not like Rihanna?”, the singer expresses.

Tyla has progressively made a name for herself over the last three years. From releasing a hit first single named Getting Late to partnering with Afrobeats singer Ayra Starr to commanding international audiences. Not to mention her front-row position at the Dolce & Gabbana fashion show, where, according to The South African, she sat next to reality TV icon Kim Kardashian.

“I was so shocked when my manager asked me very casually if I wanted to go to the Dolce & Gabbana show. It was such a mission because I didn’t have my visa and I had to come back to SA to get my visa and then fly out to Milan. As soon as I landed, I went straight to the headquarters and they dressed me. They did my nails and I felt like a princess”, Tyla shares with the Sowetan in an interview.
