Former Daily Show host Trevor Noah will be executive producing the US version of the British comedy show, Mock the Week.

The show –  first aired in 2005 and created by British producers Dan Patterson and Mark Leveson – is a topical, satirical celebrity panel show which combines the elements of talk shows and improvised games. It sets two teams of comedians against each other to satirise pop culture and current news events.

In a statement, Trevor said, “Two things I’m most passionate about in life are paying my landlord and making people laugh. We could all use a little bit more laughter as we continue to navigate today’s crazy world.”

He then said, “By bringing Mock the Week to America with the talented Dan Patterson, I’m looking forward to doing just that.”

Dan added, “After 21 successful seasons on the BBC, we can’t wait to bring the format to the US and work with America’s deep pool of brilliant comedians.”

A host for the show has not yet been announced, while production will begin later this year.

Also later in the year, the internationally acclaimed comedian comes back home to perform in South Africa between 31 August and 15 September 2023.

After finishing his US and European shows, the comedian is set to perform in Cape Town at Grand West Casino and Entertainment World from 31 August to 3 September. He then heads over to the Durban International Convention from 9 to 10 September, and finally ends the South African tour in Pretoria at the Sunbet Arena, performing from 12 to 15 September.
