Barbie mania has taken over the world and made it pink!

Everywhere you look, you’ll see something related to Barbie. It’s almost near impossible to ignore this intense cultural zeitgeist.

And just when you think things couldn’t get anymore outrageous, Ouma Rusks have also decided to join in the pink fun.

Ouma Rusks is arguably South Africa’s most beloved rusk brand. The brand recently shared an image of their new limited edition pink packaging.

It appears that it’s traditional sliced rusks do not have a specific change in flavour but the packaging has been given a make-over.

The box is prominently pink with the line “I look good in pink” written across it.

While the limited edition pink box will catch the attention of pink and Barbie lovers, it’s the appearance of “Ouma” that has most Instagrammers talking about.

Many South Africans were excited to finally see a face behind the widely adored rusk brand.

One Instagram user even commented, “Finally a Face to the Rusk.”

The old woman known as “Ouma” is dressed in a shimmery pale pink long-sleeved top and pink ruffle choker, accessorised with a thick pearl necklace.

She wears her silver hair in an up-do and wears minimal makeup aside from a dramatic red lip.

Another Instagram user referred to her as “Ouma Barbie.”

“Now that’s a material granny… go Ouma!!!!” said another.

Barbie (2023) is now showing in theatres across the country and worldwide.
