Somizi & Mohale’s divorce saga

Somizi Motaung and Mohale Motaung have finally finalised their ‘divorce’.

According to legal documents obtained by TshisaLIVE, the Idols SA judge has withdrawn his divorce summons against Mohale.

In a “recorded interview” with the producer of Living the Dream with Somizi in August 2021, Somizi stated that he wanted his “divorce” to be finalised fairly and reasonably in light of Mohale’s abuse claims.

He stated that he had turned the matter over to his attorneys. Somizi later served Mohale with a divorce summons, noting that they were married in community property under customary law, which governs the division of their joint estate.

Somizi’s legal representatives told the publication that they obtained expert opinion clarifying the existence of the marriage, which revealed that “not all customs were complied with,” implying that despite the two celebrating a public wedding, they were never married.

In response to the allegations of abuse, Mohale’s legal representative, Mabu Marweshe, stated that other legal avenues could be pursued.

“As they were never married, this is the end of the road in terms of the divorce. We are aware of actions that can be taken, including the alleged assaults, and we are also considering whether there is a possible case of defamation in relation to the publicly made allegations that our client issued the summons and wanted half of Somizi’s assets, portraying him as a gold digger.”

Somizi’s attorneys stated that their client continues to deny the allegations.

The Idols SA judge issued a statement on social media explaining his side of the story.
