The Kandasamys are back and there’s a new addition to the family legacy. Today, Netflix dropped the official trailer for Kandasamys: The Baby, launching on the service on the 20th of October 2023.

In blissful Mauritius, Jodi (Mishqah Parthiephal) and Prishen (Madhushan Singh) are preparing to welcome their bundle of joy, whilst dealing with the interference of iconic mom and soon-to-be grandmother duo of Jennifer (Jailoshini Naidoo) and Shanti (Maeshni Naicker). It’s all lullabies and nursery rhymes until drama ensues with the mom squad, who join forces, and have brow-raising ideas on how to welcome and raise the new baby.

Feathers are ruffled and new traditions are formed, but family matriarch Aya (Mariam Bassa) distances herself as she has separate plans to enjoy a  stunning Mauritian getaway. Loveable granddads Elvis (Koobeshen Naidoo) and Preggie (Yugan Naidoo) take matters into their own hands, once again, as the peace of their idyllic escape from Durban is threatened.

But as all families do, the Kandasamys band together and have their own realisations about what the parenting journey and community support looks like, all while Jodi and Prishen navigate uncharted waters for the first time as new parents.

With lots of laughs, tears, new faces and oh-so-relatable tropes, the Kandasamys are sure to bring you joy on the 20th of October 2023, only on Netflix.

Watch the Kandasamys: The Baby trailer below.

The show, produced under the production company Urban Vision, was created, directed and written by Jayan Moodley, with Ryan Booth also credited as a writer.
