Congratulations are in order for gqom DJ Simphiwe Sihawu better known as Mr. Thela as he recently completed the recording of his first ever live session at Kogelbaai Beach in Cape Town.

The Samora Machel star is definitely going higher as he continues to make boss moves in the music industry.

This live recording session is the SAMA nominated DJ’s first live session since going solo. The session will see him exclusively play his November 2022 efforts ‘Tronics Land Series 1’ which includes the popular hits ‘impempe’ and ‘looking at my dreams’.

This session also includes unreleased tracks and just like his hit songs, these tracks will continue to keep his music supporters on their feet and swinging their hips and dancing along.

Gqom is largely loved in Cape Town however, it originates from KwaZulu Natal. We were first introduced to Mr. Thela through his joint album with Mshayi  MAKE CAPE TOWN GREAT AGAIN, which was released in 2020 during lockdown. The album became an instant hit with its new sound of Gqom gospel.

The joint album MAKE CAPE TOWN GREAT AGAIN was certified platinum by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) and was nominated for The Best Gqom Album at the South African Music Awards (SAMA) 2021.

Mr Thela and Mshayi have since parted ways due to many things that happened behind the scenes.

Though deciding to go solo was a huge risk and big decision to make, the 23-year-old has been doing incredibly well for himself and his supporters cannot not wait to see him reach new heights.
