Khanyi Mbau to host the Basadi in Music Awards ceremony

Khanyi Mbau has been named as this year’s Basadi in Music Awards show host. The award show, which aims to celebrate female achievements and talent in the music industry, was founded in 2022.

The awards also aim to “uplift, celebrate and showcase just what women can achieve when given the platform to shine.” BIMA not only focuses on women in the entertainment sphere but, it also acknowledges and celebrates women who have shown heroism in the liberation of women locally, continentally and globally.

In a statement seen by Briefly news, the Basadi in Music Awards CEO Hloni Modise had the following to say about Khanyi Mbau hosting the BIMA award:

“Khanyi’s magnetic presence and ability to connect with audiences make her an ideal choice for this prestigious event. We are confident that Khanyi will bring her unique energy and charm to the stage, creating a memorable experience for all in attendance.”

The above-mentioned publication also shared  Khanyi’s response to being asked what women empowerment meant to her, Khanyi added:

“Everything, you empower a woman, you build a neighbourhood.”

According to the publication, the talented Khanyi who knows how to keep the crowd entertained also hinted that there’s more things that can be expected from her, adding:

“Keep watching the space as they say reloaded, I am not the OG for nothing.”

The award ceremony is set to take place on August 12, at the Joburg Theatre, the same venue that hosted the nominee’s event. Tickets cost R300 and can be purchased through www.joburgtheatre.com.
