Fans react to Zikhona Sodlaka’s exit on ‘The Wife’

Award wining actress Zikhona Sodlaka,  and former cast member of The Wife, left fans emotional after her tragic death on the show that affected millions of viewers as well as her former co-stars. She made an emotional exit and, as the book’s original plot called for, she committed suicide.

On the final three episodes of The Showmax original series, viewers could feel Mandisa’s suffering. She had mistakenly shot her own son Ndumiso while grieving the loss of her husband Nqoba Zulu, played by Abdul Khoza.

Mandisa was driven to the brink of insanity by the Zulu Brothers’ apparent animosity toward her.

On her exit, she told Zimoja that the ride had been enjoyable.

What is notable, though, is how Mandisa’s character developed throughout three seasons as opposed to the novel’s first book, where she commits suicide. She informed the newspaper that Mandisa’s positive reception from viewers encouraged them to keep her character on for a little while longer.

“Knowing that this character will die in the first season, I agreed to do the part. We were aware of this right away because in the book, she commits suicide. But because the audience adored her so much, we had to keep her, so the authors looked into what we could do with her, and the results were pure magic!,” she told the publication.

Here is what fans had to say on Instagram:

“What a performance sis, we will miss Mandisa.”

“You were thee best sis wami. U carried ur role with everything that you are Wow . Nobody could have done it except you.’

“This season is definitely an emotional roller coaster”

Former co-star, Mbalemhle Mvimbela commented and said, “You guys are gonna make me cry, my 2 favourites are gone!!!!!!!! Ai shame yoh ! Thank you for always reminding me of why I started… watch me carry your legacy on Kwazulu.”

Zikhona is one of South Africa’s favourite actresses, we are sure to see more of her on our screens.
