DJ Maphorisa’s gift to 15 year old cancer victim

by Bongiwe Mati

Producer and deejay Themba Sekowe famously known as DJ Maphorisa took to his social media to share a charitable moment where he made a 15-year-old aspiring deejay Tebogo’s dream come true, buying him deejaying equipment.

The deejay who hails from Pretoria’s Soshanguve is a heavy weight on Mzansi’s music scenes, having given us hits such as Izolo, Asibe Happy, Ba Straata and many more. Taking the gifts to Tebogo, a 15-year old from Limpopo who battles bone cancer, the Abalele hit maker shared a video of him and his team carrying the wrapped  music gifts and handing them over to Themba.

He captioned his post:

“S/o to Reach For A Dream ??. Tebogo, a brave 15-year-old from Limpopo battling bone cancer, had one dream – to get DJ equipment so that he could make music just like his hero, DJ Maphorisa. Little did he know, his dream was about to come true. During lunch at a Sandton hotel, DJ Maphorisa walked into the room and presented Tebogo with his dream DJ equipment. Tebogo was so surprised and starstruck that he couldn’t even speak! But that wasn’t all. The legendary Amapiano artist also gave Tebogo some advice on how to make it in the music industry and posed for a mini photoshoot with him. Tebogo and his family will never forget this amazing day. Thank you, DJ Maphorisa, for making Tebogo’s dream a reality!”
