South African Hip-Hop rapper Da L.E.S has reacted to rape allegations against him.

The rapper whose real name is Leslie Jonathan Mampe Jr was accused by a woman who goes by the name of Carlene Brown. The woman alleged that the award winning rapper and his friends had sexually assaulted her three years ago.

The Lifestyle hitmaker sought legal advice in effort to clear his name and has denied all the allegations leveled against him.

The statement was released on Da L.E.S’s officially Twitter page and it reads as follow:

“On or about the 4th of July 2023, Carlene Brown De Jongh falsely and unlawfully accused Leslie Jonathan Mampe Jr a.ka. Da L.E.S and others, in a widely published post on Instagram of inter alia ‘rape.’

“Da L.E.S. does not wish to deal with each and every allegation as it is prime facie untrue. The allegations made by Carlene Brown De Jongh have no foundation and are defamatory, hurtful and wrongful. These were intended to humiliate Da L.E.S and undermine his good reputation,” the statement reads.

“Da L.E.S is a celebrated public figure whose income is derived from his musical artistry and public influence. The aforementioned statements were intentionally disseminated by Carlene Brown De Jongh and were clearly calculated to slander, humiliate, defame and tarnish Da L.E.S’ good name and reputation.”

“Da L.E.S categorically denies all the spurious and unfounded allegations contained in the aforesaid post. There exists no justification for such publication of the defamatory allegations due to its truthfulness. Carlene Brown is well aware of the cataclysmic effect and implications it will have on Da L.E.S’ reputation and income.“

The statement continued by saying that the rapper will follow the law to clear his name and that a police investigation into a possible defamation lawsuit had been opened. “Da L.E.S will seek all legal remedies to ensure he maintains his innocence. A criminal case of defamation has already been instituted and is under investigation by the South African Police Services.” The statement concludes.
