South African singer Buhlebendalo Mda has announced her exit from The Soil, and has decided to embark on a solo career path.

Buhle confirmed her departure in a statement that was shared on her social media.

Buhle not only shared her departure in the statement but revealed that she has opened up an artist hub that caters for women, children, and queer people.

“I grew up as the child of The Soil. I have graced local and international stages and performed at some of the biggest festivals in front of huge audiences, here and abroad. I can never replace the time I have had with the group, but it’s time to grow and face this cut-throat industry on my own. I know I can do it,” Buhle said.

“The Soil without Buhle is not going to be the same. We group up in this group together, but we support her and wish her all the best in her new endeavor,” her former group members, Luphindo and Ntsika Ngxanga, said.

“In the same breath, we are exceedingly excited by the beautiful dynamism that Theo’s rare gift brings the group’s creative ethos.”

Many took to the comments section in total disbelief while others wished Buhle well on her new journey.

“Oh this is what it feels like when you’re a fan of a group and someone goes solo …I’m not gonna lie as The Soil fan I’m ?????????. But as a big sister I have to say I admire your courage and your will to embrace change and growth. You are such a beautiful human inside and outside and I wish you nothing but the best from here on as you fully embark on this journey. I have full faith that my boys @ntsikamusic and @phindothesoil will hold it down beautifully with sista V and bhut Sipho. Much love little sis,” singer  Nhlanhla Mafu wrote.

“Growth is inevitable, and growth is imperative. Growth is an indication of mastership. You’ve mastered this era (@thesoilmusic) of your career. Now is time for you to leave the cage and soar higher. Congratulations on the upcoming beautiful independent journey. I Stan you my king ❤️,” a social media user added.
