Bravo le Roux dropped his single Umntu alongside Sjava

by Staff Bona

Bravo Le Roux’s eagerly anticipated single, Umntu, alongside multi award-winning super star Sjava finally dropped on Friday, 09 June. The track is the first single off his upcoming debut album, Igazi, Iinyembezi, Nombilo. Two weeks ago, Bravo revealed the titles of the 15 tracks from this body of work and Mzansi has been buzzing with excitement for Umntu.

“I am very excited to finally present this song to South Africa! I know that a lot of people have been looking forward to this release and I hope they enjoy it as much as Sjava and I enjoyed creating it,” says Bravo. “Umntu is about a quest for love and believing that there is someone out there for everyone. It’s a song about love, which I believe is an important discourse as it is becoming increasingly difficult to find true love in the modern environment,” he adds.

As it seems, 2023 is the year of ticking boxes for Bravo Le Roux. A long-term dream, his collaboration with Sjava drops after the rapper announced a distribution deal with Sony Publishing and a global distribution deal with The Orchard.

“It’s crazy because years ago I would rap in multiple languages and Sjava advised me to stick to isiXhosa. I thought he said that because he did not like my music. Years later, we met again in Johannesburg and before I could introduce myself, he started rapping my verse from GREEK’s song, Rhulumente (the remix). He then reassured me that I was important for the South African music industry and asked me to feature him in my album!” Bravo shares.

Admitting that he has always been a fan of Bravo even before formally meeting him, Sjava says he jumped at an opportunity to create a song with the Cape Town-hailing musician. “I love how authentic Bravo Le Roux is and even my sisters are fans of him and his music,” he says.

Umntu is now available on all digital music platforms and Bravo’s full-length debut album, Igazi, Iinyembezi, Nombilo is scheduled for release on 30 June.
