Kwaito musician Arthur Mafokate was honoured with a portrait from Rasta The Artist after his A Night With Legends (ANWL) concert.

The show, which took place on 30 September at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, had a smashing lineup of entertainers which included Bongo Muffin, Boom Shaka, Jamali, Skwatta Kamp, and more.

According to TshisaLIVE, Rasta (whose real name is Lebani Sirenje) presented the portrait to the I Like the Way hitmaker at the show.

Taking to his social media to share a snap of the portrait, Arthur captioned his post, “Wait a minute Rasta, who did you say this was? Thanks my dear brother for such a beautiful portrait of myself and for celebrating me whilst I am still alive.”

Rasta told the above-mentioned publication, “Mafokate is the king and president of kwaito. He is a kwaito ancestor and guru. I’m glad I was part of the Legends night and enjoyed the old unique music. I felt like a legend too just by being there.”

The Zimbabwean-born artist added, “As I honour legends, I thought to myself that I cannot only paint people when they have passed away. A legend has to be honoured while they’re still alive. Arthur paved the way for musicians in all genres in South Africa. He is my hero.”
