Following the shocking news of his death this week, celebs have been paying tribute to Mandoza. The Kwaito star dies following a long battle with cancer at age 38. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor in May of last year. Here are some of the messages and memories that celebs have been sharing.

At least once a day for the past 10 years I’m asked “Hey DK.. Where is Mandoza?”. Today I’m heartbroken to know that I won’t be asked that question ever again. My friend and SA music legend is gone. He was a true game changer that we all loved. It didn’t matter if you were from Soweto, Sandton or Somerset West – Mandoza made you get down. There will never be another quite like him. I’ll miss you dawg, thank you for the music and the memories we had together. Deepest condolences to Mpho and the family #Mandoza ?

THE LION SLEEPS TONIGHT. My heart is in such pain. Went to visit him last week at his home. His excitement was like a child seeing sweets. We laughed we spoke about spirituality. About God. We jokes about almost everything. Including his blindness. He promised me that no matter what, his soul is happy. We hugged and said our goodbyes. He asked me to cook and bring him my meals im@in such pain. To Mpho: u were a perfect example of what through thick and thin means. Rip Mdu

Pelo ya ka e bohloko? Robala ka Kgotso ??Repost @zwabheka with @repostapp ・・・ You are everything a star is made of. From rags to riches, you made everyone believe they could change their lives. You united all South Africans on the dance floor and sports fields. Talented, elusive, ruggedly handsome with smiling eyes, larger than life, wild at heart, unforgettable, enigmatic, dangerous, outrageous, mesmerizing on stage, not afraid to say sorry, unafraid to try something new. I had the fun and privilege of producing some of your music videos and you wrote some beautiful music for @bomb_productions on Yizo Yizo. Your sound will live on.
