SA celebs react to Dj Sumbody’s death

It was a devastating Sunday morning in South Africa following the untimely passing of DJ Sumbody. 

Oupa John Sekofa popularly known as DJ Sumbody died in the early hours of Sunday morning. 

The businessman’s family and management released a statement confirming his passing. His family and management have not yet confirmed the cause of Oupa’s death due to ongoing investigations. 

“Artist and musician DJ Sumbody has died. Details of his untimely death cannot be released but the artist named Oupa John Sekofa allegedly ran into an unfortunate incident that led to his passing in the early hours of Sunday morning, 20 November 2022,” the statement read.

According to reports, the musician was allegedly shot together with his bodyguard from a gig on their way to another gig.

DJ Sumbody was best known for some of his songs that topped charts, Monate Mpolaye, Iyamemeza and Suka Emabhozeni. Oupa was also a known businessman, according to reports he owned Ayepyep in Menlyn and Cape Town, Secret Door in Menlyn and a fleet of taxis. 

Tributes all over social media and been pouring from supporters and industry friends.
