Fans flood Twitter with tributes for Pearl Shongwe

Pearl Ntombifuthi Shongwe MetroFM news presenter has passed away. 

It is understood that the 35 year old died in her sleep, in her Johannesburg apartment . 

The Daily Thetha presenter’s family released a statement confirming the untimely passing and requested privacy as they mourn her passing. 

“It’s with great sadness that the Shongwe family announces the untimely passing of our beloved daughter Ntombifuthi Pearl Shongwe. She passed away in her sleep,” the family statement read.

“We kindly request that we be given the privacy to mourn her passing during this trying time. Our daughter was a celebrated radio broadcaster and TV presenter. Her presence will forever live on in our hearts. Further details will follow in due course,” the family added in the statement.

Pearl was a much loved presenter and her supporters have been devastated since the news of her passing broke. 

Supporters have taken to Twitter to pen down heartfelt messages as they mourn Pearl. 

Thapelo: “Her voice , is one of the distinct “metroFM” like voice , idk if its just me but all the MetroFM ladies sound so good on radio that one would swear they from the same family of angels. Eish this is still hard to take . R.I.P dear sister you will be missed”

FocusedGal: “Dynamic, smart, funny, feisty, goofy, full of life. She was a breath of fresh air, brilliant and entertaining. There was never a dull moment with our Gal. Condolences to her family, colleagues and loved ones. Rest in eternal Heavenly peace. We will forever miss u MaShongwe”

Maite: “Pearl Bathong she was so selfless,Brave,humble and Beautiful in and out yoooooh one of a kind human being,,,Earth has lost but Heavens have gained… your memories will never go unnoticed babe….O robale ka Kagiso (Rest in Peace).“

Her industry friends and colleagues also penned down some tributes to the much loved presenter.
