Gqom artist and choreographer Bongekile Mildred Simelane better known as Babes Wodumo caused a stir on social media after a video of her crying while performing on stage to her late husband “Mampintsha” Maphumulo’s song which went viral.

In the video, the Wololo hitmaker who has been performing at gigs since her husband died, can be seen wiping away tears but continues dancing and singing the Big Nuz member’s song Ngeke.

Many of her fans were concerned and called for the singer to take time to mourn while others asked for Babes to be allowed to grieve as she pleases.

I think she needs some time off. But ke, we “mourn differently”

Actress and singer  Simphiwe “Simz” Ngema who is also a widow came to the gqom artist’s defence saying that she is allowed to grief however she sees fit.

“People will judge for anything you do, it doesn’t matter what it is. You should do what makes you happy and content. You should live your best life the way you want to live it,” she was quoted saying.

“I remember three weeks after Dumi passed away I would post a lot about how I miss him … people would say; we are tired of hearing of Dumi. Three years later, Simz gets a man then people want to say it’s too soon,” she went on to say.

“Let her dance if she wants to, let her dance. Even if she went on stage wearing bum shorts, she must dance. As people we are not the same … just because you want to faint at the cemetery, doesn’t mean everyone should also faint,” she reportedly added while on the live.

The late member of Big Nuz, Mampintsha died on Christmas eve a week after suffering a stroke.

The gqom star has been in the limelight ever since the passing of her late husband. She recently caused a buzz on social media when she announced that she had finally unlocked Mampintsha’s phone.

This was after speculation that Mampintsha was cheating on Babes.

“I have found my baby’s password. Thank you, baby. My husband loved me until the end,” she said, before jokingly adding “I’m now reading all your business,” she said.

Some feel she is not mourning the death of her husband properly by exposing his dirty laundry. Others believe this is her way of mourning.
