The Best Beauty at the 2016 Metro FM Awards

by Bongiwe Tshiqi

The 15th annual Metro FM Awards were held this weekend in Durban and we share our pick of the good, the bad and the ugly of the beauty at the awards.

By: Keletso Modisakeng

1.Minnie Dlamini

Born and raised in Durban, it’s no secret that Minnie uses make-up artists from there for events, and we love the hidden talent she always finds. Minnie wore an ox-blood lip as a focal point for her bare face and completed the look with dramatic lashes, which are always a win. She topped up with a simple half bun.

I loved using Durban talent last night at the #MMA15 MAU :@sindisiweuzuri ??

2. Boity

Contouring is the trend that Kim K brought into mainstream beauty avenue. We love Boity’s beat face as it highlights and enhances her heart-shaped face.

The facebeat slayage! It could only be @nomsamadida! ??????? Beautiful up do by my fave, Patrick! @pat_perfect_beauty #Club808 #MMA15 #OwnYourThrone?

3. Khanya Mkangisa

Khanya could’ve done more with her look, given how gorgeous she is and all the trends available. She kept it safe with a red lip that matched her dress.

4. Cici

She is one of the newest offerings from the 999 group, and she graced the awards in red. Red is a daring and powerful colour that can be overpowering if done incorrectly, and we’re not feeling Cici’s red dress, red lipstick and red highlights.

5. Bonang

Queen B, the queen of everything can’t seem to get anything wrong when it comes to beauty. We didn’t expect any less from her as she is an ambassador for an international make-up brand. Smokey eyes with a nude lip are a great pair, which works for both day and night looks.

……let the REVLON GLAM BEGIN!! Will you be watching?!! #MMA15 #revlon #CHOOSELOVE ???

6. Pearl Modiadie

The bigger the hair, the bigger the glam. Pearl ticked all the right boxes with her hair and make-up. She wore metallic eyeshadow, which is best tinted darker on the corners to break the colour down and enhance the eyes.

Getting ready for #MMA15 . Thank you @minashembe for bringing me back to life once again… Shout out to House of Queen ?.

7. Amanda du-Pont

We were disappointed with Amanda’s make-up, which was bad and needed redoing. Her eyebrows were dark, making her face look incomplete. Rule of thumb with eyebrow filling is to use a shade lighter that your hair and brows so they still have a natural finish. Amanda kept her hair simple and tidy with a sleek back low ponytail.

When your sister is your make-up artist?it’s done with love?? @dupontkima facebeat @molamudimotsamai hair #mma15

8. Nomzamo

Nomzamo’s beauty was a breath of fresh air. The actress mastered the ‘less is more’ look, giving her skin a natural glow. The big textured hair is a great look for her and one to try if you are looking to try a new hairdo.
