How clean is your kitchen?

by Bona staff

Your kitchen may look tidy. But, all the activities that take place there can make it difficult to keep track of  the places where germs might be hiding.

Because the kitchen is where food is stored, and prepared, it should be one of the cleanest places in our homes. But unless you’re cleaning these four things regularly, it might not be as clean as you think!

Food Cupboards

You should clean your cupboards regularly because food spills attract pests (such as bugs and mice), and make it easier for germs to survive.

How To:

  • Make up a solution of MAQ Dishwashing Liquid and warm water.
  • Remove everything from your cupboard and wash it inside and out. Make sure that you reach all the corners and crevices.
  • Leave the doors open to let the cupboards dry before putting everything back inside. Use this opportunity to also get rid of any expired food!
  • Always store food in closed containers. Use a peg to keep open packets, such as rice, maize meal or sugar, closed.

The Fridge

Because cooked and uncooked food is stored in the fridge, it is important to keep the appliance clean and shiny both inside and out. Otherwise, you could put your family’s health at risk!

How To:

  • Defrost your fridge and freezer regularly, and wash the inside and outside with a solution of MAQ Dishwashing Liquid and water.
  • Wipe with a clean wet cloth and let it dry before repacking.
  • Remember to wipe any jars and bottles before you put them back in.

Dishcloths

The dishcloth has more germs than the kitchen refuse bin. Also, dishcloths spread more germs from one place to another than anything else in your kitchen. If yours isn’t clean, your kitchen is also not clean!

How To:

  • Add a few drops of MAQ Thick Bleach to the final rinsing water to make sure that they really are germ-free.
  • Rinse thoroughly, and let them dry properly before using them again.

Kitchen bins

Always keep your bin closed; don’t let anything fall out. This way, germs will stay inside instead of in your kitchen.

  • Use a bin liner – or old shopping bags – and empty the bin more frequently.
  • Wash and disinfect the bin daily, including the area around it.

MAQ Dishwashing Liquid is more than just that – it is an effective detergent cleaner that you can use to keep your kitchen clean and shiny. Its high foam level tells you that the product is working while the strong active lemon ingredient cuts grease, leaving everything clean and shiny with a fresh fragrance.
