by Boitumelo Mmakou

Without the brave women of 1956 who protested against unjust laws, women in South Africa would not get the recognition they deserve. With this in mind, we have compiled a list of incredible women who are leaders in the media.

In her tell-all book, When Hope Whispers, Zoleka shares the story about how she survived cancer. Through expressing herself, she inspired other people who have gone through a similar experience. We salute Zoleka for her brave heart, her strength to keep pushing to make a difference in society and live past her past mistakes.

CONNIE FERGUSON

As the face of Revlon, Bonang deserves all-things nice because she is a hard worker. Have you seen her new Mercedes Benz? Bonang is on every medium you can think of, including radio and TV. We cannot wait to see her E! True Story in September, which will highlight how the beauty rose to success.

TERRY PHETO

Terry is also going to have her true story special on E!. This gorgeous lady is more than just a pretty face; she is a business woman, Airoma celebrity ambassador, an outstanding actress and go-getter. Her self-produced film, Ayanda, is coming out soon and we look forward to seeing many other films to be produced by her in the future.

BONNIE HENNA

Bonnie currently graces our TV screens as a presenter on SABC 3. She has appeared on several international films and series. Her acting skills are amazing, but we think we loved her more as an author of her autobiography, Eye bags and Dimples.

Through her presenting skills, Pabi has proven to be extremely versatile. Now we have the pleasure of seeing her back on TV, presenting Ekse Zwakala on e.tv. Apart from all of that, Pabi also inspires other women to embrace their health journey as they try to be fit.

NOMZAMO MBATHA

When Nomzamo made her acting debut on Isibaya, she made it clear that she was a force to be reckoned with. Nomzamo continues to prove just how talented she is as an actress and presenter. She has gained a huge fan base on the small screen, but we cannot wait to see her silver screen debut alongside Maps Maponyane in Tell Me Sweet Something.

CELESTE NTULI

South Africa is still far behind with having women dominate stand-up comedy. But, phenomenal women like Celeste are changing this dynamic. She is a great actress, but wait till you see what a superstar she is when she’s on stage telling jokes! We hope her bravery and fearlessness inspires more women to pursue comedy.

TUMI MORAKE
