Fashion At The SAFTAs

by Ayanda Ngcobo

A throng of celebs graced the red carpet at this year’s SAFTAs.

Hulisani Ravele and Sipho Ngwenya

Sipho and hulisane

The cute couple were a great match on the carpet in black attire. Hulisani was graceful in a floor-length gown, and Sipho was the perfect gentleman in a suit.

Mampho Brescia

Mampho gave her dress a touch of drama by accessorising it with embellished heels. We love all things glitzy.

Mohlatsi Mafatshe and wife

Mohlatsi and wife

Sechaba didn’t wow us in his suit; it was slightly ill-fitting, giving him an unpolished finish. His wife, however, looked stunning in a crochet and sheer crop-top paired with a skin-tight skirt.

Masechaba Lekalake

Masechaba-

The stylist needs to be called to order for allowing Masechaba to wear this dress. It was so wrong – it left us speechless.

Bujy

Bujy

Always one for over the top glam, Bujy didn’t disappoint. The embroidered cape added a royal flair to his otherwise simple get up.

Thando Thabethe

Thando-Thabethe-

Thando looked gorgeous in a striking red embellished gown.

Thomas Gumede

Thomas-Gumede-and-mom-

We’re not too sure about this outfit. It was chaotic and mismatched. but his mom was an elegant beauty.

Tebogo Khalo

Tebogo-Khalo-

The gold belt was the hero of this dress. It gave it structure and introduced an interesting element to the otherwise plain number. We also love the shoes.

Tsholofelo Monedi

Tsholo Monedi

Although we’re fans of African print, this dress looked too mature for Tsholofelo.

Somizi

The quilted blazer, white skinny’s and statement brogues were a fashion win. If only the whole ensemble were just a few inches bigger it would have sat so much better on Somizi.

Tema Sebopedi

Classy, appropriate and well-rounded – Looking fab Tema!!

Lunga Shabalala

Lunga in another suit, how mind blowing…

Celeste Ntuli

This dress could’ve done with a bit of accessorising just to liven it up, but otherwise Celeste looked good.

Mduduzi Mabaso and Fathima

Mduduzi mabaso and wife

We were impressed by this whole look; monochrome blazer, slim fit pants and sneakers for street edge, yes, yes, yes! Mduduzi’s wife looked lovely in black.

Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa

Mbali’s dress could really have done without the frill detail, but she did look beautiful and we loved the Grecian style braid on her head.

Penny Lebyane

Apart from the dramatic and somewhat distracting bodice, the dress had nothing going for it.

Zama Ngcobo

Zama Ngcobo

This dress was simple yet memorable. A good effort on Zama’s part.

Amo Chidi

Amo-Chidi

Something went amiss here. The individual items look good separately but together it went wrong.

Bonang

Bonang Matheba

Bonang looked beautiful in a chic jumpsuit with a sequinned bodice for added fashion flavour.

Khanyi Mbau

Khanyi Mbau

This dress didn’t work for us. The extra material was unnecessary and the dress would’ve worked better without it.

Maps Maponyane

Maps-Maponyane-

Maps’s outfits are a constant throwback because we see him wearing the same thing all the time.
