I have never had dreams of being a talk show host, but I’ve always wanted to speak and be heard. That’s why Katch it with Khanyi means so much to me. The show features two celebrities that stand out from the rest and we amplify the sparks that make up the magic of that person’s existence. The lack of acknowledgement of our icons in their time and era inspired the show. We call it praise before death.
Motherhood
Motherhood has made me realistic and very sober. I can never predict the future, I can only promise to do my very best as a mother and never lose focus. I try to protect my daughter from the negative things she hears about me as best as I can.
Rising above rumours
Lots of things about me have been published in the media including my relationship with Mandla (Mthembu), our divorce and naked pictures of me were also leaked for everyone to see. I try to keep my head high. Over 40 million South African citizens breathe and that never makes news. This reminds me how special I am, I stand out from the crowd. Besides, God has given me a strong support system. Amen.
Lasting Memory
When I am gone, I want to be remembered as the one who made it and turned over a new leaf. We have lost great souls – souls that died way before they actually died… I rose before my death. I am a true product of reality and a mirror image of society.
My past life
My life was a pretty prison. I was a hero to certain people, but dead inside. Men bought me fancy things and everything I ever wanted, but I paid for it with my life. That’s a part of me I can never replace. Living rich was honestly the loneliest time of my life.
My present
People always ask how Tebogo (Lerole) and I met. I believe that people never meet, rather they are brought together to find one another as companions. Are we in love? We are in sync; love cannot handle us. How do I find love? Mmmm… I am still trying to figure what shape it is, it is rather confusing.
Fame
When you are young, you are impulsive. At the peak of my fame, I had no time to explain my story to the media. I thought I was too cool for all of that. So, people read my actions and not my intentions. I don’t blame the media for the disgusted attitude people had towards me at times. The media does not fabricate things. When you act like a diva you get seen as one.
Money
When I broke into the scene I was 18 and now I’m 28. So, it’s literally a decade. Your responsibilities change after a decade, it’s about growth and evolving as an individual. Before the money, I was a child entering adulthood. I was exploring my freedom and being independent. Money didn’t change me though. Money can’t change anyone. Money just determines your personality and how mobile everything is. You can’t blame money; you choose your personality after you get the money. Now,+ I work like every other South African. I go to work in the morning, get paid a salary at the end of the month and I pay my tax.
Happiness
Happiness is being content beyond all the pressures. It is to always remember you can’t change who you are. Even if you have money, you have problems. If you can reach the stage where you are content, then you will be happy.
