The scorching summer days await us and so do all the fun festivities. While enjoying summer, it is essential that we take care of ourselves and remain radiant throughout this demanding season.

The fun doesn’t wait on anyone; however, in no way does this mean that you should not take time to ensure that you have all your summer essentials. Carrying these essentials with you will truly take you a long way and keep you glowing throughout all your festive activities.

Must have summer essentials list:

1. SPF

According to Hopskins Medicines, sun protection factor (SPF) creates a layer of protection that holds back UV light rays from harming your skin. The layer of SPF acts as a protection layer that protects skin against a specific portion of ultraviolet light responsible for sunburn and skin cancer.

The numbers that appear on SPF products may often confuse people, however, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation, the SPF numbers tells you how long the sun’s UV radiation would take to redden your skin when using the product exactly as directed versus the amount of time without any sunscreen. Further providing an example of SPF 30, which would ideally take you 30 times longer to burn than if you weren’t wearing sunscreen.

2. Lip Moisturisers

To prevent chapped and dry lips this summer, ensure that you always have good lip balm or lip gloss in your pocket. This everyday essential creates a barrier that prevents moisture loss, aiding towards protecting your lips from environmental irritants. With lip moisturisers there is no right or wrong way to do it. Invest in a good quality lip moisturiser and use it whenever necessary.

3. Wipes

Having skin wipes is the secret to cleanliness. This essential serves various purposes in these scorching summer days where we find ourselves either too dewy, sweaty or even feeling sticky every now and again. These come in very handy as they can be used for feeling refreshed. Wipes are multi-purposed as they can also be used for make-up removal purposes.

4. Body Mist

This perfume like concept is quite convenient. A body mist is directly sprayed to the skin to keep you smelling good and refreshed. These are available in wide ranges of scents that range from smelling fruity, musky, florally and many other scents. Body mists come as an affordable alternative to perfumes and colognes and are safe for re-application once the smell dies down.  According to Bath and Body Works, body mists contain a lower concentration of essential oils compared to perfume, making it lighter and more buildable.

5. Hand sanitiser

While participating in our fun festive activities, it is important that we prevent ourselves from catching germs and possibly getting sick. The most convenient way of doing this is making sure that we keep our hands clean and sanitise them often. Connecting with others does mean that we will be accepting a lot more high fives, fist bumps and handshakes, because of this we must ensure that we regularly apply hand sanitiser to cleanse our hands.

As the temperatures get hotter and the list of plans get longer, don’t get caught slacking. To activate your summer freshness and radiance, simply apply a generous layer of SPF to your skin, followed by hydrating your lips with a lip moisturiser of your choice. Seal off this freshness by applying your favourite body mist to your skin. After all these preparations, be sure to sanitise your hands and you are good to go.

Note that to maintain your radiance this summer, you should keep these items on you. After a few hours of sun exposure, it is advised that you simply wipe your face and repeat all that is mentioned above. Don’t get caught slacking and sweating, the scorching summer days await us and so do all the fun festivities.
