Nhlanhla Mbambo’s industry peers, friends and supporters have taken to social media to honour his memory.

According to the Daily Sun, the news of his death was confirmed by his brother, Sbusiso Mbambo. Nhlanhla has reportedly died at the age of 54 after a long illness that affected his work

“He died yesterday after a long illness. At this stage I can’t divulge much details except that we’re deeply hurt and shocked by all of this. It was really not expected,” Sbusiso told the Daily Sun.

According to the above mentioned publication, his brother revealed that Nhlanhla complained about piles and stomach ache.

“We took him to hospital and he was admitted. Everything is still new and we haven’t decided on the day of the funeral or memorial service, but we will be communicating the details in due course,” he told the publication.

Many have taken to social media with tributes to Nhlanhla, while others reflected on his marriage with legendary singer Brenda Fassie. This is what some of them had to say:

“In my opinion it is still one of the best celebrity wedding that ever took place in South Africa Nhlanhla Mbambo, Brenda Fassies ex husband has passed away. May in rest easy,” a social media user wrote.
