Tweeps react to Burna Boy’s SA concert cancellation

by Johana Mukandila

Tweeps react to the cancellation of Grammy Award winner Burna Boy’s SA concert.

The Nigerian singer and songwriter was set to perform at the FNB stadium on the 23rd of September 2023. However, the show was postponed to the 16th of December 2023. Ticket-selling platform TicketPro, who sold tickets for Burna Boy’s concert in South Africa, later announced on Thursday morning that the concert has been cancelled.

The news sparked an uproar on social media as a majority of people poked fun at the Last Last hitmaker for his inability to fill the FNB stadium, which was filled by South African rapper Cassper Nyovest in 2017.

Here is what tweeps had to say:

Bro I’m South African and I love burna but burna is not pulling those numbers in SA it takes a really really special artist to do 90k not forgetting that he said he will never set foot in SA again South Africans are very patriotic

Meanwhile, the African Giant replied to South Africans who mocked him over the concert and promised that he will be back to hold his concert.

“I was in SA last year and I has 100 thousand of the most beautidul South Africans Outside for me, So no dead agenda can Agend. I will see you again real soon South Africa. I love you,” he wrote.

It has now been alleged that the CEO of the company responsible for organising the concert has stolen at least R10 million from the company.
