Sonia Booth’s passion liqueur to launch on Youth Day

by Bongiwe Mati

Sonia Booth has been hard at work since announcing her heartbreaking separation from her soccer legend husband Matthew Booth.

The model represented Southern Africa in the M-Net Face of Africa competition in 1999 later went on to be crowned second runner up in the 2001 Miss South Africa pageant.

Sonia had earlier this year shared with Mzansi how her husband had allegedly cheated on her with a woman by the name of Bongani Mthombeni Muller. In very detailed posts, the model shared receipts of the alleged affair including a video where she went to collect her Tupperware at Bongani’s house that Matthew had used to put in a cheese cake that he according to Sonia had baked for his girlfriend, Bongani.

Since then, the mother of two who hails from Pimville in Soweto has channeled her energy into building a brand over the idea of cheesecake. She started off by making marula cheesecake ice-cream and is now soon to launch a marula cheese cake Passion liqueur.

Speaking to Sunday world about the ice cream and the liqueur business which is set to launch on the June 16 in Pimville, Sonia shared;

“The launch will see four different cocktails being introduced and served. Fact is, winter is within and load-shedding presents challenges when it comes to sustaining a frozen goods business. I think the time is now to introduce a liqueur that will keep us warm,”

Sonia also shared with the publication her reasons for choosing Youth Day for her launch and Pimville as her location, she shared;

“Pimville is my birthplace, this launch is special to me. My mom was 14 years old on June 16 1976, she was among the students who protested, so the launch date is significant, at least I hope.”

On an Instagram post shared by the long legged model, she posted a photo sharing a toast with two men. She captioned her post, “And the final @marula_cheesecake Passion liqueur is locked in. The countdown to the launch and reveal begins… 35% ABV Awe!”
