The  singer’s six-month partner, engineer Mpho Xaba, proposed to her in front of her close family and friends on Friday afternoon in her Johannesburg residence.

Zahara’s fiancé and her PA Lisa set up a surprise engagement, which saw them persuade the singer to glam-up for a podcast interview, only for her to come back home to a house full of flower petals and balloons on which were written “Marry me”.

Before the proposal, in an exclusive reveal to ZiMoja, Zahara’s fiancé Mpho says, “I know that I am doing the right thing. I love her. But I am nervous, what If she says No?”

Lisa also helped him to pick the ring. “It’s a beautifully customized proposal ring. I know money is not important, but he paid R10 000 for the ring,” Lisa revealed.

Congratulations are in order for Zahara after her partner asked for her hand in marriage.

Talking to Zimoja Lezinto, the Loliwe hitmaker was beyond happy and truly appreciated the surprised proposal.

“Lisa told me I needed to hurry home for an emergency. When I arrived in the lounge, I saw these big balloons written ‘Marry me.’ I said yes. I love him. He is supportive, kind, and generous.” Family and friends ululated as he went down on one knee, helping her to put on the ring. “I am so happy. But made I got tricked into a fake interview. But I am happy,” said Zahara.
