Trend alert: Ballet flats are making a comeback

At some point circa 2000’s, all the cool girls had a pair or two of ballet flats, they were the “IT” shoe. They came in multiple variations, leather, two toned and with bows.

The shoe style has an inherently youthful feel to it. It could be the easy slip-on design or the tiny bow on the nose of the more traditional pairs. However, with proper styling, the shoe’s star power is strong, which explains its current comeback as one of the season’s biggest shoe trends.

While leather versions have previously been popular, ballet-inspired flats are all the rage for the coming seasons. What stands out about this season’s ballet flats is how closely they resemble actual ballet slippers—lace-up details, box toes, slim and elegant silhouette.

Content creator, Azee Green paired her white ballet with denim jeans and a white cropped shirt.

Although the ballet pump was undeniably popular in the 2000s, the simple shoe’s place in fashion dates back much further, to the 1950s, when the pump first found a new life outside of dance. They are a fashion staple and you will definitely get your cost per wear because of its versatality.
