With summer on its way, there’s no better time to hit the road.

Cape Province has some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. The natural features are enriched with  beauty. As such, our roads, rather than being a means to an end, are a destination in themselves.

Exploring these specific areas during your road trip are Instagram-worthy as they contain one of the world’s most beautiful landscapes, charming coastal towns, and iconic landmarks.

Here are the top five places that should be on your road trip bucket list to visit on your next road trip to the Cape Province, according to Motus.cars.

Cape Peninsula

The Cape Peninsula is a must see as it holds many historical features, landscapes and history.  Pay a visit to the world-famous Cape Point in addition to other well-known destinations, beaches, and towns along the route. Kalk Bay, Llandudno, Chapman’s Peak Drive, and Simon’s Town are just a few examples.

The West Coast

The West Coast offers a wonderful selection of coastal towns like Yzerfontein, Langebaan, and Paternoster, as well as some inland gems like Darling. The West Coast is an excellent destination for water sports, outdoor activities, pristine beaches, and seasonal wildflowers.

 The Klein Karoo

The Klein Karoo may not be a long route, but it is worth exploring, especially since it connects with the famous Route 62, the world’s longest wine route. It is also a unique part of the Western Cape due to its stark, barren landscapes, which contrast with more vibrant towns.

The Garden Route

The Garden Route is one of South Africa’s most lush and beautiful areas. It has a plethora of charming towns and forest retreats, including Mossel Bay, Knysna, and Plettenberg Bay, and is blessed with majestic scenery, green forests, and warmer beaches along the Indian Ocean coast.

The Overberg

Overberg is a must see! A trip through this area reveals a plethora of coastal and inland towns to discover. There is a beautiful sight of rolling mountain ranges, an incredible coastline, and some of the best land-based whale-watching in the world.
