What fatherhood means to me

by Amanda Ndlangisa

Ahead of Father’s Day, these four celeb dads share what being a father means to them.

MUSICIAN, ARTHUR MAFOKATE (FATHER OF THREE)

Arthur-Mofokate

Being a dad grounds you, makes you responsible, and the fact that you have unique friends in your kids is what I love most. Being a father makes you appreciate every kid out there because each time you see other people’s kids they remind you of your own.

RAPPER, TEBOGO “PROVERB” THEKISHO (FATHER OF TWO)

Proverb-tebogo

For me, being a father puts my life into perspective, my responsibilities changed since I now have personalities to nurture and I now take time as a priceless commodity.

ACTOR SEPUTLA SEBOGODI (FATHER OF FOUR)

Seputla-Sebogodi

Being a dad means preparing my boys to be men and my daughter to walk away knowing how to be a lady. It’s not just about providing for them but teaching them to be the best they can be and respectable members of our society. The best thing is that when you come back from work you have people waiting at home. The best part is also seeing myself in them.

ACTOR SIPHIWE MTSHALI (FATHER OF FIVE)

Siphiwe-Mtshali

I love that fact the nothing is ever about me anymore. Once you become a parent your children always come first. I try to raise my children similar to the way my father raised me, even though he was a lot stricter than I am. Responsibility, discipline and respect are most important.
